A UK man’s missing dog was traced to the home of a parcel delivery driver who had just delivered a package of dog food to his address.

Richard Guttfield, of Marsworth, Buckinghamshire, resorted to emailing Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos after first contacting the retailer itself. The delivery driver was self-employed but had been delivering the parcel on Amazon’s behalf.

Amazon tracked the driver down to his home, where Wilma, Guttfield’s 11-month-old miniature schnauzer, was found.

“This is inexcusable and does not reflect the high standards we have for our delivery partners,” said an Amazon spokesperson.

“We take these matters seriously and this individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages for the independent delivery service provider.”

Guttfield said the police were investigating and thanked the charity Dog Lost for their help.
