Documentation

What documents will I need?

When you book a shipment with Transglobal Express, we’ll provide you with the following documents:

  • Shipping Label / Air Waybill – This is the label used by the carrier for shipping and tracking.
  • Customs Invoice / Packing List – This is a document required for international shipments. It’s used by customs authorities to confirm the contents of your shipment, for security purposes and to check for any applicable taxes and duties.
  • Collection Manifest (TNT services only) – For proof of collection by the driver.

When your booking is completed, you will be taken to an order confirmation screen which will provide download links and labelling instructions for each of your documents. These will specify how many copies you need and how to attach them, which will vary from service to service.

You will usually need to print these documents off. However, a growing number of carriers are allowing Customs Invoices to be submitted electronically. The labelling instructions will state if this is the case. Even if submitted  electronically, you will still be able to download a copy for your own reference.

For services routed via our depot, you may be shown instructions for Collection Shipping Labels. These are to be attached for delivery to our depot. If required, we will then re-label your shipment once it arrives at our depot, for the next leg of its journey.

For thermal label printers, thermal label download links will be included.

Don't have a printer?

We can arrange for all documents to be posted to you if you book your collection with enough time in advance - as long as you're based in the UK. Simply call us on 0345 145 1212 or email [email protected] and we’ll be happy to help.

How can I return to my downloads later?

When your order has been submitted, you will receive an order confirmation email, which will contain an itemised list of your orders. You can return to the page with download links and instructions by clicking View next to the order, or VIEW IN BROWSER.

You can also access your documents on the website by logging in to your account and going to your Orders page.

Orders page

Next to each order, you can use the icons on the right-hand side to download your documents.

The printer icon is for the Shipping Label / Air Waybill (with standard or thermal options), and the pencil and page icon is for the Packing List / Customs Invoice.

You can also click on the TP- order reference number, which will take you to a page with download links.

Can you email me the documents?

You can opt in to receive a separate email containing the documents as attachments, which will also include labelling instructions.

Log in to your account and go to Privacy & Communication Settings. Then scroll down to the setting:

‘For courier services, send me emails with labelling and customs documents attached.’

And toggle Yes or No.

Please note: As each shipment requires a different set of labels, you will receive a separate documents email for each shipment booked. This may not be suitable if you are booking a large number of orders.

Documents for FedEx / TG International

The following documentation links are for additional paperwork that may be required for our FedEx or TG International services. We will contact you in the event that any of these are needed. For your primary documentation, please refer to the labelling instructions as above.

Please note: For services via our depot, your AWB number will only be available once we have received the shipment at our depot.

Other documents

There may be other documents required by customs, depending on the goods you are sending and the customs rules of the countries you are exporting to or from.

We have provided download links some of the most frequently used documents (for Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA) below. However, this list is not exhaustive and you will need to check customs rules before shipping.
