FedEx-TNT deal secures antitrust approval from the U.S.

Following the EU’s expected approval of FedEx’s acquisition of TNT for $4.8 billion (USD), FedEx has now also received antitrust approval from the United States, giving them permission to merge.

FedEx were informed mid-October that the EU would raise no objections, though the European Commission's review officially has a January deadline. This is despite the EU blocking UPS’ attempts to acquire TNT in 2013.

The United States’ Federal Trade Commission gave the FedEx-TNT deal early termination from its antitrust waiting periods.
