TNT introduces new freighter service

TNT is to launch a freighter service between Venice and its Liege air hub situated in Belgium. The new service, expected to run five times a week, will benefit exporters and importers who are looking to trade with North-East Italy who require guaranteed next-day deliveries, as well as flexibility and later collection times.

The capital of Venice, Veneto, is current home to the majority of exporting companies, most of which are SMEs. The new connections will allow TNT to strengthen its services further within Europe and throughout the “Blue Banana” economic region.

To maintain smoothness for connections between air and road operations, the air gateway is to be located within the existing TNT Marcon depot, near Venice. While TNT’s Marcon depot uses advanced automated scanning and sorting equipment, however as of February 2015, the hub will be installed with faster and more advanced machinery to help with sorting efficiency. The machinery installed here will eventually be rolled out across all TNT Italy depots.
