FedEx is reportedly forecasting another busy holiday period and is expecting to move more than 290 million shipments before Christmas Eve whilst also obtaining an 8.8% rise in overall year-over-year peak season volume. The parcel delivery company is anticipating to be struck by three volume spikes throughout the month of December surpassing 20 million in volume.

December 15th is estimated at being the busiest day in company history with a forecasted 22.6 million shipments moving throughout the network around the globe.

Frederick W. Smith, CEO of FedEx Corp, has said: “Our more than 300,000 dedicated team members around the world, combined with our continued investment in our powerful and flexible global networks, position FedEx to once again delivery outstanding customer service this holiday season.”

FedEx has taken several various measures to ensure it is fully prepared for the forthcoming holiday season. The US courier giant it set to continue its strategic investments within the network for growth and capacity. FedEx is to continue its modernisation of its global fleet of aircraft, in addition to introducing new technologies to enable better delivery operation planning on a daily basis. The company is also adding approximately 50,000 season positions across its operating companies, including package handlers, drivers and various support positions.
