The US Postal service has recently launched a trial to test a new same day delivery service, with the trial taking place in New York City. The parcel delivery service is testing out the new service, which will enable customers to have a parcel collected and delivered anywhere on the island by that same evening

Customer Services Supervisor of the New York District, Jesse Garrett, has said the new service “blows our competition out of the water” and “everyone is working hard to meet customer and operational expectations.”

This comes after an initial trial carried out of this service in 2012 within San Francisco. However, the service was forced to be postponed due to the retailers taking part not supplying a sufficient amount of packages. USPS has said larger retailers were needed to take part, with this change being made for the second phase of the trial in New York which is anticipated to run until December of this year.

The period from September 2012 to February 2014 saw USPS’s revenue grow by 11.5%, an increase from the 9.5% that was reached the previous year.
